Stern Glass Works Wrapped - 2025

As we reach the end of 2025, I wanted to take a moment to look at the numbers and milestones that defined our year at Stern Glass Works.

Together we have filled this year with hours of focused glass work, vibrant colors, and incredible community growth.

Here is what 2025 looked like at Stern Glass Works.

The Studio by the Numbers

Our grinders stayed busy and our scrap bins stayed full. Here is a look at the raw materials, tools and energy that went into the craft this year:

  • 11 Glass Grinders: Our grinders worked tirelessly to help our staff, students and members perfectly shape their sheet glass pieces.

  • 83 Pounds of Solder: Students, Members and Staff used 83 lbs of solder to create stunning stained/leaded glass pieces.

  • 94 Kiln Firings: Our kilns were the heartbeat of the studio, running through hundreds of cycles to fuse, slump, and cast your visions.

  • 1,221 Sheets of Glass: From iridescent textures to bold primaries, we brought in a record amount of sheet glass to keep the workbenches stocked.

  • 37 Repairs & Restorations: We took pride in giving new life to family heirlooms and historical pieces, ensuring they remain part of your homes for years to come.

  • 17 Custom Commissions: From architectural windows to personalized gifts, we loved collaborating on one-of-a-kind projects.

  • 457 Pictures of Clementine: on Maia’s phone alone from inside the studio. Mostly posing with happy students or sleeping belly side up!

Classes

Our classes are one of our favorite things about Stern Glass Works. Seeing our community build, watching students grow their skills and confidence and sharing out love for the media brings us so much joy!

In 2025:

  • 129 Students completed their first-ever glass art pieces pieces.

  • 51 Beginner Workshops were hosted, covering everything from copper foil to kiln-forming.

  • 89 Meetings of our On-Going Adult Glass: Our adult-glass students come back week after week to hone their skills and create stunning works in our one-on-one style small group class!

  • New for 2025: We successfully launched Glass in a Flash, which has quickly become a studio favorite bringing in 36 new students every week!

Community & Connection

Stern Glass Works is more than just a place to make art; it’s a community hub.

  • 15 Community Events: We were proud to organize and/or participate in local community programing events such! We are so lucky to be in such a supportive community and its important for us to give back!

  • 8 OPRF Students: Had the opportunity to work for Stern Glass Works from sorting and measuring glass to assisting with community workshops!

A Sincere Thank You

Whether you joined us for a single 2.5-hour "Glass in a Flash" class, trusted us with a delicate restoration, or are a regular face in our on-going classes or membership program—thank you.

You are the reason our studio lights stay on and our kilns stay hot. We are grateful for your support and look forward to creating even more together in 2026.
